The Digital Services Act (DSA) Compliance is a European Union legislation aimed at regulating transparency on online platforms and protecting users’ data and privacy. This refers to meeting specific requirements when distributing mobile apps in the European Union (EU) for mobile app developers. Apple must verify and present the trader’s contact details on the App Store product pages, under Articles 30 and 31 of the Digital Services Act. If your account is viewed as a Trader, you must provide your contact details, such as mobile number, address and email address to display it publicly on your app’s page in the App Store.
In compliance with the Digital Service Act, follow the steps below to complete DSA compliance on the Apple App Store Connect.
Step 1: Log In to App Store Connect
Navigate to App Store Connect.
Enter the Apple ID linked with your developer account.
Step 2: Navigate to Compliance Requirements
Go to the Business tab from the dashboard panel.
Look for the Agreements section to see a prompt to adhere to the DSA requirements.
Click on Complete Compliance Requirements to begin.
Step 3: Decide Your Trader Status
A pop-up will appear to decide your trader status under the title Digital Services Act Compliance.
Decide Your Trader Status:
Select this if you want to distribute apps in the European Union.
1. Provide contact details to display publicly on your app’s product page in the European Union. 2. By default, we will set your apps to be distributed in all regions, including the European Union.
I am not a Trader under DSA nor Did not plan to distribute in the European Union (EU). Select this option if you don’t want to display your apps in the European Union or you will be considered as a Trader.
Click Next to move further.
Step 4: Give Contact Details (when you are a Trader under DSA)
1. Provide information in the Contact Information Verification form:
Be sure to input the contact information exactly as it is going to be publicly posted on your App Store product page in the European Union. Click Next.
Step 5: Confirmation
The information provided will be read and processed by Apple to be verified. After the completion of a successful process, you will be given a confirmation email or notification.
DSA Compliance in the App Store Connect to enable trust and transparency between your business and its audience of users. Your account should be identified as a trader and a non-trader clearly, and the contact details should include clear information. It instils a safe, stable environment among customers within the European Union (EU). The procedure has been simplified, and you can meet the requirements provided by the EU. Pre-emptive compliance prevents future disruption and builds the reputation of your business, allowing continued operation without interruption and credibility in the long run.
